Volunteer Manager 

We are looking for a skilled Volunteer Manager to join our small team of diverse professionals at WILDNorth. In this position, you will be responsible for recruiting and managing more than 200 volunteers. Based in Edmonton and established in 1989, WILDNorth is the only full scope wildlife rehabilitation organization in northern Alberta. Our mandate is to provide compassionate care to injured and orphaned wildlife and to educate the public on wildlife in the community. This position reports to the Executive Director. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Source and recruit volunteers 

Develop and implement volunteer resources, training, and information sessions 

Manage volunteer communication, schedules, and activities 

Create and maintain a healthy working environment for volunteers 

Keep and manage records of volunteers’ information and work 

Evaluate volunteers’ work 

Coordinate with other department heads on events and other volunteer needs 

Run statistics and prepare reports 

Create content using multiple tools and programs 

Work within established budgets 

Other duties as needed 

 

Requirements and Qualifications 

Two years’ experience as Volunteer Coordinator or similar role 

Knowledge of native Alberta wildlife species natural history 

Working knowledge of MS Office and solid computer skills 

Experience using HR and recruiting tools 

Team player 

Good time-management skills 

Great interpersonal and communication skills 

Customer service experience is a bonus 

Formal education in communications or related field is preferred 

 

Additional Information 

40 hours / week, plus some evenings and weekends 

$39,520 annually plus benefits 

Projected start date: January 2025
