Seasonal Wildlife Technician (Temporary, Full-time)
Important Information:
Hours: 35 hrs/week (40 hrs/week including daily unpaid lunch)
Wage: $17.00/hour
Anticipated term: May 24 – August 31, 2026
This position requires availability on Saturdays & Sundays. Scheduling details will be discussed with candidates selected for interview. We recognize that applicants may have caregiving, cultural, or religious commitments, and we will discuss scheduling flexibility when possible.
About the Role:
The Seasonal Wildlife Technician will work under the supervision of the Director of WILDCare, WILDCare Managers, Registered Veterinary Technologists, and Wildlife Technicians. The successful candidate will assist with the daily care and treatment of injured and orphaned wildlife while supporting a respectful, collaborative, and learning-focused work environment.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
This role includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
• Assisting with animal handling, including weighing, treatments, fluid and nutritional support, diagnostics, and cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures
• Assisting with triage and patient intakes
• Supporting and guiding volunteers
• Monitoring and reporting on patient progress and behavior
• Assisting with record keeping, charting, and documenting patient outcomes
• Maintaining a high level of cleanliness throughout the facility while adhering to biosecurity protocols
• Assisting with wildlife rescue, release, and fostering when required Wildlife rehabilitation is a fast-paced and, at times, emotionally challenging environment.
• We emphasize teamwork, clear communication, and mutual support to help staff navigate difficult situations.

It is particularly valuable for individuals interested in veterinary medicine, biological sciences, ecological sciences, or related fields, and provides opportunities to build practical skills, confidence, and professional experience.
Qualifications:
• This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. As required by the program, applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada (with a valid Social Insurance Number). More information is available at https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/youth
• Current tetanus vaccination
• Ability to safely perform job duties such as animal handling, standing for extended periods, lifting, and working in a physically active environment, with reasonable accommodations where possible
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced care environment
Assets:
• Completion of Foundations of Wildlife Rehabilitation course through the IWRC
• Previous experience in wildlife rehabilitation or animal care
• Rabies vaccination with titer check within the last 2 years
