About WILDNorth 

WILDNorth is a non-partisan, charitable organization dedicated to providing compassionate care for injured and orphaned wildlife while educating the public about coexistence with wildlife. We care for a wide variety of species, with approximately 80% avian patients and 20% small mammals. 

Position Overview 

WILDNorth is seeking a skilled and motivated Dispatchers Supervisor to lead our helpline and wildlife response team during our busiest season. This role oversees volunteers and staff who respond to public inquiries, coordinate rescues, and facilitate wildlife intake. 

The ideal candidate is a confident communicator, strong leader, and problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is passionate about wildlife welfare and public education. 

Key Responsibilities 

Supervision & Leadership 

  • Supervise, train, and support WILDRescue volunteers and team members 
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback 

Helpline Management 

  • Oversee daily helpline operations 
  • Ensure accurate, consistent, and compassionate communication with the public 
  • Support volunteers in handling complex wildlife conflict and injury calls 

Field Response & Rescue Coordination 

  • Assist in developing and overseeing wildlife capture strategies 
  • Support and participate in field rescues 
  • Ensure safe and humane wildlife handling practices 

Intake & Operations 

  • Oversee wildlife intake processes and patient record creation 
  • Coordinate transitions between rescue and animal care teams 
  • Ensure protocols and standards of care are maintained 

Public Engagement 

  • Represent WILDNorth professionally to the public 
  • Support education efforts related to wildlife conflict and coexistence 

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience (preferred) 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team 
  • Highly organized and adaptable in a fast-paced environment 
  • Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Current tetanus vaccination 
  • Police Information Check required prior to start 

Assets 

  • Experience in wildlife rehabilitation, animal care, or environmental sciences 
  • Background in conflict resolution or public education 
  • Experience handling wildlife or coordinating field operations 
  • Rabies vaccination and titer check within the last 2 years (asset, not required) 

Working Conditions 

  • Combination of indoor (helpline/intake) and outdoor (field rescue) work 
  • Emotionally and physically demanding environment
