Position: WILDCare Rehabilitation Manager

Hours: 40 hrs/week
Location: Parkland County Rehabilitation Centre
The WILDCare Rehabilitation Manager is responsible for managing staff, facilities, and operations at WILDNorth’s Parkland County (near Spruce Grove, AB) wildlife rehabilitation facility. This position reports directly to the Director of WILDCare.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership
· Manage human resources, including training, development, supervision, evaluation and retention of all staff members, interns and volunteers, operating out of the Rehabilitation Centre
· Manage and provide rehabilitative care to all wildlife patients, to WILDNorth and IWRC standards
· Supervise the release of rehabilitated wildlife, when appropriate, at approved locations
· Maintain medical records and prepare yearly summaries
· Manage inventories of food, medical and dry goods, in coordination with Wildlife Hospital
· Maintain a positive, healthy and safe work environment
· Lead by example, by adhering to, carrying out and promoting WILDNorth’s policies and procedures
· Manage facilities, ensuring that buildings, equipment and vehicles are in good working repair, and that the premise is kept clean and free of clutter
· Make recommendations on improvements to new buildings, to Director of WILDCare
Communication
· Provide monthly reports to the Director of WILDCare, as needed
· Communicate needs and secure approval from the Director of WILDCare concerning personal work schedule and vacation time, new construction, changes in care or operational policy, communication to high level stakeholders (CWS, AEP, municipalities, press, major donors, etc.)
· Communicate and cooperate with staff from other departments, to fulfill organizational wide strategies
Financial
· Develop operational goals and operating budgets
· Manage expenditures within delegated procedures and budget
The applicant must possess/demonstrate:
· Completion of degree program in Animal Health Technology and eligible for registration with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association preferred
· Completion of the Basic and Advanced Wildlife Rehabilitation IWRC skills course
· Minimum 2 years experience in wildlife rehabilitation field
· Ability to identify most native mammals/birds of Alberta, and knowledge of their natural history
· Demonstrated knowledge of conservation, habitat issues, environmental stewardship
· Flexible and able to manage multiple requirements in a fast-paced, changing environment
· Superior organizational skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer skills
· Familiarity with general facility maintenance requirements and construction considered an asset
· Capable of handling demanding workload & long hours in peak times; work weekends and statutory holidays if needed and working out of door.
This is a full-time, salaried, position at $40k per year, with benefits.
